Simulation and Optimization of Silicon Solar Cells

Uneven surface leads to reflection and refraction of sunlight, which improves the efficiency of absorption. In this project, different surface microstructures of solar cell are investigated in terms of absorption efficiency.

My contribution:

  • Simulated the sunlight absorption of silicon material based on finite element method.
  • Modelled a few solar cell surface textures, investigated the relationship between efficiency and their shape parameters.
